Tesco's new £4.50 dessert goes viral as thousands get involved in craze

A £4.50 frozen dessert from Tesco is behind a social media craze.

Trending TikTok videos have seen Little Moons mochi desserts sell out in many supermarkets.

Mochi is a Japanese rice cake filled with ice cream, reports Hull Live. The treats are available to buy in flavours including coconut, passion fruit and mango, each box costing £4.50.

TikTokers have been heading to their nearest Tesco to buy the treats and "taste-test" them on camera. The reviews have been highly positive, one fan describing them as "unreal".

One video, by a TikTok user with the handle @emilyturton21, has received more than 400,000 views in four days.

Her clip, captioned "Banging #fyp #littlemoonsmochi", has prompted more than 3,000 comments.

One fellow enthusiast replied: "The coconut ones are unreal."

The Little Moons are sold out on Tesco's website, but there may be some still available in your local store.

Some fans have had success in ordering them from Deliveroo.
