All supermarkets are going to huge lengths to protect their staff and customers amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Over the weekend more measures were put in place to implement social distancing in stores, including limits on the number of people allowed in Aldi supermarkets and the installation of shields at tills in Lidl and Waitrose.
There were also reports Tesco had limited customers to one item-each of milk, bread and loo rolls to prevent stockpiling, however this hasn't been implemented nationwide.
According to The Sunday Times a Tesco Express in East London announced the one-item limit on essentials through signs on shelves.
However, Tesco has said the restriction in the single store has since been lifted and confirmed the usual three limit per item still applies across all Tesco supermarkets.
A Tesco spokesperson said: "To ensure more people have access to everyday essentials, we have introduced a store-wide restriction of three items per customer on every product line."
So what are the current guidelines at Tesco?
NHS and elderly opening times
Tuesday and Thursday mornings are dedicated to NHS workers between the hours of 9am and 10am, there's also a browsing hour on Sundays.
Meanwhile the elderly will be prioritised between 9am and 10am every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Limits on products
There is a store-wide restriction of only three items per customer on every product line.
Tesco has also removed multi-buy promotions.
Store opening times
All Tescos, including 24 hour stores, will now shut at 10pm.
This is to ensure the stores are clean and so staff can replenish stock.
