Tesco recalls tablets as it urges customers who've purchased them not to take them

Tesco has issued an urgent recall for a line of tablets over fears they contain an illegal amount of chemical ingredient.

Customers are being asked to return Tesco Health Omega 3 Fish Oil 30, 90 and 240 capsules after discovering raised levels of glycidol. The amount of glycidol contained in the capsules is above the legal limit.

Shoppers who have followed the dosage advice are urged not to panic as the raised levels shouldn't affect their health.

In a statement, Tesco said: "We're recalling certain date codes of Tesco Health Omega 3 Fish Oil 30, 90 and 240 capsules, as they contain raised levels of glycidol, which are above the permitted legal limit. This shouldn't affect your health, if you've been following the dosage advice.

"However, if you've used the product very recently and feel unwell, we recommend you consult your GP."

Product batches affected

  • Tesco Health Omega 3 Fish Oil 30, 90 and 240 capsules
  • Best-before end dates: all dates up to and including April 2025

"If you've bought an affected product, please don't use it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store for a refund. No receipt is required.

"Use the store locators to find your nearest UK Tesco or ROI Tesco. For more information, contact Tesco Customer Services on 0800 505 555 (UK) or 1800 248 123 (ROI)."
