Tesco makes major update to meal deal including Yo Sushi, Itsu and Finest brands

Tesco have launched a 'premium' meal deal for those looking to give their lunchtime a bit of pep. Tesco's three-part meal deal - main, snack and drink - has long been a firm favourite of many and now the supermarket is upping their offering by launching a new premium version of the deal.

The new meal deal, which will be offered alongside the traditional deal, will cost £5 for clubcard customers and £5.50 without and will give people the opportunity to add something fancier to their usual lunchtime staple - including the shop's 'finest' range as well as including brands such as Yo! Sushi and Itsu.

The usual meal deal costs £3.40 for clubcard holders and £3.90 without as the supermarket caused a stirr last year by upping their prices from the longstanding £3 deal which had been in place for over a decade. You can read about that here.

There are 33 different main choices and 10 brand new Tesco Finest and Wicked products on offer as part of the new meal deal. This includes exciting new ingredients and flavours such as the Tesco Finest Roast Beef, West Country Cheddar & Truffle Mayo Tiger Roll, the Tesco Finest Chicken & N'duja Wrap and the YO! Rainbow Salmon Poke.

But for those who have their go-tos in the traditional meal deal offering, the shop is allowing customers to mix and match. Some of the new offerings cost £4.75 alone so for those with expensive taste the new £5 deal could be a steal. Some of the new mains on offer include:

  • Tesco Finest Thai King Prawn and Mango Salad
  • Tesco Finest Wiltshire Ham & Roast Chicken Club Sandwich
  • Tesco Finest Continental Grazing Board for One
  • Wicked Kitchen No Chicken Kebab Wrap
  • Wicked Kitchen Roasted Shwarma Cauliflower and Tahini Salad
  • YO! Prawn Dragon Roll
  • YO! Rainbow Salmon Poke

Alessandra Bellini, Tesco chief customer Officer said: ‘‘We know that our Tesco meal deal is hugely popular with our customers, and is a lunchtime staple for millions of people day in, day out. But sometimes you want to treat yourself to something a little special, and the new premium meal deal gives our shoppers the opportunity to upgrade their usual lunch choices. Featuring a wide range of mains including new Finest and Wicked Kitchen sandwiches and salads, as well as options from itsu, YO! Sushi and Pollen & Grace, there are over four million combinations to be tried. What’s more, at only £5.00 for the full meal, clubcard members really can enjoy gourmet on the go.”
