Tesco issues warning to shoppers about some of the products it stocks

Supermarket giant Tesco has issued a warning to shoppers about the availability of some products in certain stores.

The warning comes just weeks after the supermarket introduced new rationing rules in its stores, after there were fears people could begin stockpiling again before a 'second lockdown'.

A notice, spotted at the Tesco superstore in Cheriton, Folkestone, on Monday, said: "Due to supplier issues, we have limited availability on these products.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Bosses have since confirmed the problem could take weeks to remedy, reports the Mirror.

The notices were displayed next to the grocer's Finest and own-brand products, including bacon, however, it declined to comment on which ranges - and stores - are affected.

In a statement, a spokesman said: "We’re sorry that some of our stores have fewer pork products available than usual.

"We’re working hard with our suppliers to resolve this and availability should improve within the coming weeks."

Product restrictions were brought into Tesco stores two weeks ago, and at the time the supermarket insisted that it had 'good availability.'

In a statement to Manchester Evening News , the supermarket said: "We have good availability, with plenty of stock to go round, and we would encourage our customers to shop as normal.

"To ensure that everyone can keep buying what they need, we have introduced bulk-buy limits on a small number of products."
