Tesco and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) have issued an urgent warning for people to return a certain scotch egg product.
Shoppers are being urged to return the Wall's Classic Scotch Eggs, with some believed to be contaminated with salmonella, but only affect two batches.
The supermarket chain said that the affected products can be returned to any Tesco store for a full refund immediately, amid fears they could make consumers ill.
The affected items are Wall's 2 Classic Scotch Eggs 226g and Wall's The Classic Scotch Egg 113g, both with a use-by date of July 2, 2025.
These have been urgently recalled in light of the salmonella discovery.
The use-by date is showed as today, and so Tesco shoppers are advised to urgently check their kitchens for the snacks to make sure they are not eaten.
They added that the recall affects various Wall's Classic Scotch Eggs with the specific use-by date, though no other Wall's products have been impacted by the contamination issue.
Tesco stated: "Wall's is recalling various Classic Scotch Eggs with the use by date of July 2, 2025. This is due to the presence of Salmonella.
"If you've bought an affected product, please don't eat it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”
For additional information, customers can visit the Wall's website at walls-pastry.co.uk or contact Tesco Customer Services on 0800 505 555.
The FSA confirmed that The Compleat Food Group is recalling the products, with point of sale notices being displayed in all retail stores selling them
Salmonella is a bacterial infectious intestinal disease which occurs after eating contaminated food or water or after contact with another person or animal with the infection.
It can cause sickness, diarrhoea, nausea, fever and vomiting and can be particularly dangerous to those deemed vulnerable.
