Supermarket giant Tesco has shared an important update for all shoppers planning to buy alcohol from its stores this week.
As pubs and bars reopen for the first time in months in England, the retailer has urged shoppers not to buy alcohol from its stores.
Instead, Tesco wants people to go and support their local.
Posting on Facebook, the supermarket chain issued the following statement.
It read: "Pubs have had it tough this year. So, as good as our deals are, this week we’d rather you support your local pub (as long as you feel safe to do so). Because right now, #EveryLittleHelps. Excludes Scotland, NI and Wales. Drinkaware.co.uk for the facts 18+."
Responding to the post, one shopper said: "What a thoughtful advert, I honestly think I will wait until I can drink inside.Well done Tesco."
"Good on you Tesco!" said somebody else.
A third shopper wrote: "Thank you Tesco!! amazing support for pubs!!"
Speaking about the lifting of lockdown restrictions, Boris Johnson said: "Monday is a major step forward in our roadmap to freedom as venues such as shops, hairdressers, nail salons, outdoor attractions, and pubs and restaurants open once again.
"I’m sure it will be a huge relief for those business owners who have been closed for so long, and for everyone else it’s a chance to get back to doing some of the things we love and have missed.
"I urge everyone to continue to behave responsibly and remember ‘hands, face, space and fresh air’ to suppress Covid as we push on with our vaccination programme."
