Tesco is selling 'quiet' fireworks to help pets this Bonfire Night

Supermarket giant Tesco is selling quieter fireworks this year to help pets who can become frightened from the loud noises.

Tesco is promising its new range will offer a much lower noise level than regular fireworks whilst still offering a great visual display.

Stephanie Burrows, assistant buyer for Fireworks at Tesco said: “We’ve seen increasing numbers of customers who prefer the visual aspect of fireworks, and our low-noise fireworks still offer the wow-factor for those having bonfire night celebrations at home this year.”

Its Asana Fountain, Box of Tricks Selection Box and Fantasia Rockets all promise customers they will only offer a low noise once set off.

Tesco is also predicting this year its Rainbow Sparkle Fountain firework will be one of its best sellers this year with all money raised set to go towards NHS Charities Together.

This isn't the first time a supermarket has offered 'quiet' fireworks, last year Asda and Morrisons started selling 'low noise' fireworks. The news followed confirmation by Sainsbury's that its stores would not be selling any fireworks at all.

The decision was praised by pet owners with one person tweeting at the time: "Thank you Sainsbury’s for not selling fireworks this year. All my animals spent three weeks of terror. Not fair."

Tesco range is available to buy now and prices start from £1 for a pack of five sparklers and £6 for each of its boxes of 'low noise' fireworks.
