Tesco Ireland is asking customers to utilise their click and collect service instead of deliveries due to high demand.
With the country now in a full lockdown, many people are using the supermarket's delivery service to avoid heading outside during this crisis.
But given the surge in demand for deliveries, the service is booked up across the country at the moment, with many of those cocooning unable to get their shopping dropped to the house.
Customers have been asking if the chain could make delivery services priority only - but Tesco is asking shoppers to only use the service if they can't collect shopping at the store.
In reply to a customer, a spokesperson said: "We’re at full capacity for the next few weeks so we’re asking those who are able to safely come to stores to do so, instead of shopping online.
"This will help us to free up more slots for the more vulnerable."
Other changes to Tesco stores across Ireland
Tesco opening hours again depend on the local store but there has not been any major changes.
The supermarket is asking customers to help practice health advice and have outlined a number of things they want people to do.
- They ask for customers not to bulk buy to keep stocks replenished.
- Pay by card or phone where possible.
- Practice social distancing by following signs places around stores.
- Respect dedicated times for the elderly which are before 9am on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.
- Only have one person per trolley where appropriate.
