Tesco Ireland opening hours, online shopping delivery updates, questions answered and more

Tesco is now one of the only trips out of the house that people get with people looking for all the information they can get on their local spot.

Here's all you need to know about Tesco in terms of opening hours and the questions you need answered;

Opening hours

Tesco opening hours again depend on the local store but there has not been any major changes.

The supermarket is asking customers to help practice health advice and have outlined a number of things they want people to do.

Changes to stores due to social distancing

- They ask for customers not to bulk buy to keep stocks replenished.

- Pay by card or phone where possible.

- Practice social distancing by following signs places around stores.

- Respect dedicated times for the elderly which are before 9am on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.

- Only have one person per trolley where appropriate.

Frequently asked questions

Am I still able to pay by cash in store or do I have to use card?

We are still accepting cash in stores, but we would encourage the use of card where possible. Our chip and pin terminals are regularly cleaned with disinfectant products.

Are all stores open as normal?

Yes, our stores are open as normal. We do have some changes to opening times – i.e. stores closing at 10pm, rather than 11pm – in order to help our colleagues and ensure they have time to replenish stock in the store.

What are you doing to ensure customers can buy grocery essentials?

Supplies are continually coming into our distribution centres and, behind the scenes, our teams are working around the clock, picking and packing hundreds of thousands of cases for delivery to stores every day. We have supply of the products we all need and are working with our Irish and international suppliers, to make sure that any impacts on our supplies of food, drink and other products are kept to an absolute minimum. We would encourage customers not to stockpile or ‘bulk-buy’ items at this time.

Do you have limits on any items for sale in stores?

We haven’t put formal limits in place, but to help make sure that everyone can get the items they need we would ask customers not to change their shopping habits. There is no need to stockpile or bulk-buy items.

Why are counters unavailable in stores at the moment?

We want to make sure we are focusing our efforts on the areas that are most in demand in our stores and on giving customers access to the essentials. Customers are increasingly shopping for pre-packaged goods. By temporarily closing our counters we can focus colleagues on replenishing these goods, where we are seeing highest demand.

Quitest times

Across the board in all supermarkets, for whatever reason, Wednesday appears to always be the quietest day for shopping.

In most Tescos you will find the busiest days on Saturdays and Sundays.

The quietest hours are generally from opening to midday - although keep in mind before 9am is a dedicated time for elderly shoppers everywhere.

The busiest period in most shops appears to be from 4pm to 8pm with a general peak around 6pm.

Online delivery service

Tesco's online delivery service is simple and easy to use although they do ask people not to use it unless necessary as to make more spaces available for more vulnerable people.
