Tesco introduce priority queuing for NHS and care workers

Tesco has announced that it is allowing NHS and care workers to go straight to the front of queues to allow them to complete their shopping more quickly.

The supermarket chain had already introduced a number of measures in recent weeks to help give those working in the healthcare sector priority access to stores.

The measures included adding an additional hour to prioritise NHS workers every Tuesday and Thursday along with a browsing hour before checkouts open on Sundays, all of which gives them dedicated time to shop for their essentials.

Now NHS and health workers will be able to go straight to the front of the queues in stores across the UK.

A Tesco spokesperson said; “In addition to our priority shopping hours for NHS staff, we introduced new priority access measures to support care workers and those in the NHS and emergency services.

"These groups will now be invited to come straight to the front of the queue, helping them shop more quickly, and at times which best fit around their vital work.

"All we ask is that they bring a form of ID with them to store, such as an NHS staff card or emergency services card.

"The NHS priority hours will continue between 9am and 10am on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. This is an additional way of recognising the work these customers do and helping to make their lives as easy as possible."
