Tesco home delivery van raided by cruel thieves during drop-off in Pilton

A Tesco home delivery van was raided by cruel thieves while supermarket staff were dropping off shopping in Pilton.

Police have confirmed that they are investigating the incident, which happened at around 2.10pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The delivery driver stopped the vehicle outside a house on Crewe Road Gardens around 2pm before taking shopping to a resident. As he was helping the lady with her shopping a "bunch of youths" started helping themselves to items from the van.

The news was shared in the TRIM and Friends of West Pilton Facebook page, and police have since said they are aware of the incident – and are working to identify those involved.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that officers have been made aware of a theft from a delivery van in the Crewe Road Gardens area of Edinburgh, which took place around 2.10pm on Tuesday 14 April. Enquiries into the incident are at an early stage.”
