Tesco has placed buying restrictions on five of its most popular products

Now lockdown restrictions have eased, it feels like life is finally beginning to return to normal.

Supermarket queues seem to have died down a little, and for the most part, shelves in stores are no longer ransacked bare.

As a result of this, most of the major supermarket chains have lifted the item restrictions which were first brought in at the start of the pandemic to help prevent stockpiling.

However, the Mirror reports that Tesco has said restrictions remain for the following items:

  • Face coverings
  • Antibacterial handwash
  • Antibacterial wipes
  • Flour
  • Eggs

A spokesperson for Tesco said: "The safety of our customers and colleagues is our top priority and we are closely following Government guidance.

"We have reviewed the social distancing measures in our stores to ensure that they are in line with the latest guidance and that everyone can continue to maintain a safe distance. We ask that our customers continue to support us by following the measures in place."

Elderly and vulnerable shoppers still also get priority access on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9am until 10am, Tesco added in a statement issued last week.
