Tesco issues urgent product recall for these products

Shoppers haved been urged to return tinned batches of Green Giant sweetcorn.

It follows an advisory from the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the Manchester Evening News reports.

The FSA stated: "General Mills recalls Green Giant Original Sweetcorn because some seams may be faulty due to a packaging fault, which could make this product unsafe to eat."

These batches are affected:

Pack Size: 198g

Batch Codes: 93 1S1, 294 1S1 and 295 1S1.

Best Before: July 2023

Government advice on handling food bought from supermarkets

Tesco tweeted: "As a safety precaution, Green Giant are recalling certain batches of Green Giant original canned sweetcorn, in varying sizes.

"This is due to the possible presence of faulty seams which can potentially lead to bacteria."

"If you have one of the affected products and want to return it, you don't need a receipt, but we don't advise going to the supermarket unless it's as part of an essential trip.

"We are recalling a limited number of cans of Green Giant Sweetcorn from supermarkets and other grocery stores in the UK and some other European markets.

"This follows the identification of a potential packaging fault with the affected cans, which could compromise product quality or food safety.

"We have not received any complaints but our first priority is the health and wellbeing of consumers."
