Tesco gives final warning to shoppers who have a Clubcard

Tesco has given any shoppers who have a Clubcard a one-day warning as millions of vouchers are set to expire. If you have any of the vouchers, you'll need to use them by the end of the day as they are set to expire at midnight tonight (Tuesday, May 31).

If you're a Clubcard holder and aren't sure on whether or not you have the vouchers, it's worth checking as soon as possible, reports Manchester Evening News. The vouchers were issued in May 2020 and must be used by the end of today, May 31.

The supermarket previously issued a warning to customers to use their vouchers before they’re no longer valid. Alessandra Bellini, Tesco chief customer officer, said: “We know it’s tough right now, which is why we want to show customers all the ways we can help them spend less.“

Tesco sends out Clubcard vouchers every three months, in February, May, August and November. These are normally valid for two years.

You need a minimum of 150 points to get any sort of voucher, which will be worth £1.50 to spend in Tesco - but there is a way to triple your points. Points can also be redeemed for up to three times their value if you spend them at one of Tesco’s Clubcard reward partners.

That means £10 of vouchers off your shop could instead become £30 at Pizza Express, or you can redeem them against Cineworld tickets, the Mirror says.

How to extend the vouchers

If yours are close to expiring, but you do not want to spend them just yet, there is a trick to extend them. To do this, you have to buy something using your points on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards site.

Doing this means you get any remaining points paid back to your account. Tesco Clubcard Rewards lets you swap points for things like restaurant meals.

Rewards lets you switch your points for rewards like day trips to theme parks or dinner out. This is how the tip works.

If you have a £20 voucher that is expiring, and spend £1 on a reward, you will get the remaining £19.50 paid back to you with a fresh two-year expiry. You can then use that money to get money off your shopping or fuel.

However, you will need to do this for every expiring voucher. Alternatively, you can turn your coupons into Faster Vouchers and they will last 21 months from the date you convert your vouchers.

This means you could get an extra 21 months' use out of them beyond the usual two-year expiry date.
