Tesco flooded with praise over 'never before seen' detail on Valentine's Day Cards

Supermarket giant Tesco has been flooded with praise after shoppers discovered a 'brilliant' detail on its Valentine's Day cards.

Shoppers rushed to thank Tesco for making a supermarket first after they spotted the cards in store.

Pictures of the cards, which feature braille as well as a written Valentine's Day message, have been shared across social media.

On Facebook, Karen Davison wrote: "What a great idea!! Do they have braille birthday cards as i've a friend who is blind and this would be amazing. I know you can buy from RNIB online but just asking."

Steph Laban said: "Love this. My daughter is fully blind and although she is only 10 atm I love that she can now enjoy cards the way we do."

Tracey Lyn Dawson added: "You would of thought these would have been out years ago, but great to see they are now."

Gail Donaldson commented: "Love this!! in all the years I've never came across a card in braille hopefully they become more widely available."

Wendy Latimer said: "Very thoughtful….. never came across anything like this before."

The RNIB tweeted: "With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, @Tesco has worked with us to launch a range of cards for people with sight loss. The cards, created by @Hallmark, have varied sensory features on them, including different feel, texture and pattern work in addition to braille."

Stephanie Burrows, Tesco's assistant buyer for cards, said: “At Tesco, our customers are at the heart of everything we do, so it’s important we make a continued effort to build an inclusive and accessible product range to meet their needs.

"We’re always listening to feedback and know cards are an area where more diversity and inclusiveness is desperately needed for better representation of us all.

"We’ve recently been adding more LGBTQIA+, disability and ethnicity cards across many of our card ranges, and we’re delighted to share them with our customers and look forward to hearing their feedback.”
