Tesco enlists 280,000 employees to trial new Clubcard feature

  • Tesco is trialling an innovative AI assistant aimed at transforming how customers plan meals and manage their grocery shopping.
  • About 280,000 Tesco employees are currently testing the new tool, which is linked to their Clubcard purchase data, before its anticipated launch to all customers later this year.
  • The AI assistant will offer personalised recipe ideas, consider individual dietary preferences, and allow users to generate recipes based on cost, cuisine, or ingredients they already have at home.
  • Developed in collaboration with UK-based consultancy Tomoro AI, in alliance with OpenAI, the feature will be seamlessly integrated into the Tesco app.
  • Tesco Chief Executive Ken Murphy said that the assistant has the potential to transform the shopping experience, harnessing AI to personalise services and ultimately save customers time and money.
