Tesco employee pushed and racially abused in 'hate crime'

A member of staff was racially abused and pushed in Tesco after challenging someone who wasn't wearing a mask.

CCTV images have been released by police in connection with the assault at the supermarket on Millenium Promenade.

The incident, which happened on February 12, is being treated as a hate crime by police.

A statement from Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "We’re appealing for information to help us identify a man in connection with a racially aggravated public order incident and assault in Bristol.

"The incident happened in Tesco on Millennium Promenade on 12 February.

"A member of staff was racially abused and pushed by a man after he challenged him for not wearing a mask.

"The incident is being treated as a hate crime.

"If you know who the man in the image we’re releasing is please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5221031237.

"You can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form.

"No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will not go to court or have to speak to police when contacting Crimestoppers."
