Tesco digestive biscuits recalled over traces of metal - 'please do not eat'

Tesco shoppers may want to check their cupboards following concern about potentially harmful material in a batch of biscuits.

Tesco Free From Digestive Biscuits are being recalled because they may contain small pieces of metal which make them unsafe to eat, according to notice on the Food Standard Agency website. It comes after the retailer and others also recalled Kinder eggs which may be contaminated with salmonella.

The alert concerning the biscuits, published on Friday (April 8), read: "This product may contain small pieces of metal which makes it unsafe to eat. Tesco is recalling the above product.

"Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling the product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."

The product recall affects the 160g packets of the biscuits with a best before date of March 2023. Tesco's notice states: "Please do not eat these biscuits instead return any affected product to store where a full refund will be given.

"Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused." Shoppers can contact the chain's customer service team if they have any further queries.
