Tesco delivery van ends up on roof of thatched cottage - and people are very confused

A photo shows the bizarre moment a Tesco delivery van ended up on top of a cottage this week.

One of the supermarket's blue vans was spotted precariously balanced on the thatched roof of the house.

A crowd of locals from the community of Knutsford in Cheshire came to check out the surprising scene.

However, the sight could have something to do with Tesco's new Christmas advert, according to the Liverpool Echo .

The van was given a festive touch, decorated with multicoloured festive lights.

A Christmas wreath is also visible over the door of the cottage.

Knutsford resident Jewel, 29, said: “It’s unbelievable! I’ve never seen anything quite like this, especially around here.

"It really feels like something out of a Christmas movie.”

Alessandra Bellini, Tesco chief customer officer, said: “Seeing one of our Tesco delivery vans sat on the roof of a cottage caught everyone by surprise this morning.

"It is certainly not something you see every day, but I suspect that anyone watching ITV this Sunday night will have all their questions answered.”

Retailer John Lewis was the latest brand to reveal its Christmas ad earlier this week.

This year's clip was created in partnership with Waitrose, and tells the story of Excitable Edgar, a fire-breathing young dragon.

After accidentally igniting the town Christmas tree, Edgar's bad luck turns around in the end.
