Tesco customers furious as glitch leaves them unable to shop

With the weather feeling colder and more miserable than ever, many shoppers are opting to order their groceries online, so they can make the most of staying warm and toasty at home.

However, Tesco customers have been left fuming, after a technical glitch left them unable to do their online shopping as they usually would.

According to PA, the supermarket’s website and app have been experiencing issues since Tuesday evening, and they have left many customers complaining about orders due for delivery on Wednesday that they could not complete.

Some shoppers have been served the message "we’re sorry, but something went wrong” or that the site is down for maintenance, when trying to get online.

Others have been left unable to pay for their shopping.

Tesco says it has now fixed the problem, but some customers claim they are still unable to log into their accounts.

Posting on Twitter, one annoyed shopper said: "I’ve been trying almost 6hrs to buy a shop online. Every time the app or website crashes."

"Just wasted an hour filling a basket for an online shop with you for me to get to the payment and you’re doing online maintenance!" ranted another.

A third commented: "You’re having a laugh! It would have been the first online shop with you but it’s now the last."

In light of the glitch, a spokesman for Tesco said: "We have fixed a technology issue which was affecting our website and app last night and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

"Customers will now be able to log in and place orders."
