Tesco changes shopping rules for 10 days ahead of Christmas

Hundreds of supermarket branches of Tesco will be open 24/7 in the run-up to Christmas.

The news follows an announcement from M&S that it will have 200 branches open until midnight, and Sainsbury's saying it will offer later night shopping in the final days before December 25.

Primark has also said it will open some branches 24/7 from next week after the new tier system comes into force across England.

Tesco will open 300 branches for 24-hours - except for Sundays - from December 14 to December 24.

The rest of Tesco's stores will also operate at extended trading hours from 5am until 11pm between those dates, The Sun reports.

M&S says around 200 or two-thirds of its stores will be open until midnight.

The outlets with extended opening times include almost all of its food-only branches, along with some clothing and food stores.

The rest won't close their doors until 10pm. And no M&S will open on Boxing Day.

At Sainsbury's around 90% of its shops are set to open from 6am until midnight in the run up to December 25.

And customers who purchase long-life food products between December 4 and 13 will get 10 times the number of nectar points.

As well as 11 all day, all night branches of Primark, the bargain chain is planning to to extend opening hours wherever possible at other stores too in an attempt to let more people pick up essentials.

Primark stores opening for from 7am on Wednesday 2 December through until normal closing time on Thursday 3 December.
