Tesco cancels all home delivery orders after 1pm due to IT problem

Tesco customers have been left furious after claiming the supermarket cancelled all home deliveries from 1pm onwards.

The issuewas caused by an IT problem, Tesco said.

Consumers have had cancelled orders that they are unable to rebook.

Shoppers calling up Tesco say they got an automatic message that said: "Due to technical issues we’ve had to cancel all orders after 1pm.

"If your order was due after 1pm you have not been charged. We’re unable to reschedule these orders."

One person said: "Any help with getting my order that has JUST been cancelled when I need it tonight?

"Your 'help' desk was no help and couldn't be bothered."

Another tweeted: "You have cancelled a delivery for an elderly, housebound client of mine without explanation.

"He is now left without basic essentials for the weekend. Your customer service number is hanging up on connection and you are not responding to DMs."

A Tesco spokesperson said: "Due to a technical issue, we have had to cancel some online orders that were due for delivery today.

"We’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused. Customers who are impacted can use our app or website to rebook at a time convenient to them.”

The Mirror understands that Tesco orders after today are not affected.

On Twitter, Tesco responded to one customer and said: "You have not been charged for your order and emails have been sent to advise customers."

Earlier this month a Tesco shopper spotted a self-service glitch that resulted in her bill coming to minus £150.

The anonymous customer posted on a Facebook Group named Extreme Couponing and Bargains to explain how it appeared that discount were randomly added to items.

The shopper ended up with a total of -£150.75 on just seven items.

The customer claims that they were able to check out despite this clearly inaccurate sum.

They said: “I didn’t think it would work - I was sure it would autocorrect at checkout. Massive glitch on self serve."

Earlier this year Tesco brought in three delivery saver schemes from £2.49 per month.

The lowest-price Anytime Click+Collect option lets shoppers choose when they'd like to collect their shop on orders over £25.

The next monthly tariff is £4.99 for the Off Peak Delivery Plan, this includes a £25 minimum for click-and-collect and a £40 minimum basket price for home delivery.

However, shoppers get the added flexibility of same day slots for click-and-collect and next-day options for home delivery.

And priced at £7.99 a month is the Anytime Delivery Plan. The same minimum spends apply, with same day options for both click-and-collect and home delivery.
