Tesco announces major price change to help families in the run up to Christmas

Tesco has announced a major price-freeze campaign across more than 1,000 everyday products to help families with their shopping in the run-up to Christmas.

Prices across a variety of big-name branded household essentials will be locked until 2023 in a move that aims to help families get by during the cost of living crisis. It comes just as households across the UK are gearing up for one of the most expensive winter periods in history, with soaring prices across energy bills and food at the supermarket.

The build-up to Christmas can be a notoriously pricey time for a lot of families, which is why the supermarket chain has launched the price change in a bid to help customers spend less during the festive season.

All products included in the new price-lock campaign are part of Tesco's Low Everyday Prices campaign, which aims to give their customers great value at affordable prices.

The new price-lock campaign will cover a whole range of products from cupboard staples to tea-time favourites, and customers can find major brands such as Heinz, Oral B, Nescafe and McCains.

Tesco UK Chief Executive, Jason Tarry, commented: "We know times are tough for many customers right now, particularly as we head into the winter months. We hope this extended price-lock commitment gives our customers the certainty of knowing that over a thousand household favourites will stay at the same great price for months to come – helping them budget when they need it most."

Some items that are covered by Tesco's price-lock campaign includes:

  • McCains Home Chips 2.25kg: £4.30

  • Robinsons Orange Squash 1L: £1.75

  • Ski Strawberry Mouse four pack: £1.10

  • Nescafe Original 3-in-1 six sachets: 99p

  • Tilda Pure Steamed Basmati Rice 250g: 95p

  • Johnson's Baby Cotton Buds 200 pieces: 95p

  • Heinz Baked Beans Snap pots four pack: £2.49

Tesco's new price-freeze campaign comes just after it announced new incentives for staff members, including a second pay rise for hourly paid staff and doubling colleagues discounts.

The supermarket has also launched their massive half-price toy sale event to help families make even more savings on Christmas gifts for their little ones this year.

Launched on Monday, October 3, Clubcard members can make major savings across some branded toys, Lego, Squishmallows and much more.
