Tesco announces extra measures to ensure shoppers wear masks

Over the past week, it's been all change at supermarkets including Asda, Aldi, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Morrisons, as new rules have come into place for staff wearing face masks, and shoppers have been warned not to stockpile.

As a result, some people have been left confused about how supermarkets will make sure customers are following the rules.

Tesco has now responded to one shopper's question about how it will be operating, and has announced some changes that will be happening in stores to make sure customers are kept as safe as possible.

Posting on the Tesco Twitter account, the supermarket wrote: "From 24 September, we’re re-introducing Social Distancing Greeters to welcome customers at the front of our Extra stores and superstores to ensure hygiene stations are set up so that customers can sanitise their trolleys and baskets.

"[They will] remind customers about wearing face coverings while in store. However, they’ll not challenge customers who aren’t wearing one or stop anyone from entering.

"[They will] help and support any vulnerable customers. Assist with any queries about our social distancing measures and remind customers to keep 2 metres apart."
