Supermarket giants Tesco and Asda have confirmed whether shoppers will be able to buy 'non-essential' items during lockdown.
Despite confusion during England's November 2020 lockdown which led to some stores closing off areas and certain products, the same will not be happening this time around.
Tesco in Prescot blocked off its upstairs area last time around, much to customers' surprise, in accordance with guidelines that said separate floors selling non-food items should close. Single-level stores were not affected.

However there are no plans to do the same this time, reports TeesideLive.
Tesco says it is following current guidance which states that, in England, non-essential items can continue to be sold in a "mixed retail" setting where food and other essential items are on sale.
Its general merchandise and clothing departments will stay open and customers will be able to pick those items up during their essential visits.
Asda has also said it has not made any changes in its stores regarding the sale of non-essential items.
Its supermarkets will continue to sell non-food items and clothing, however, the restrictions have meant its standalone Asda Living and George stores have all closed temporarily.
