Terry Wogan is gearing up for a comedic televisual return after lining up a spot on Chris O’Dowd’s Sky1 sitcom Moone Boy.
Wogan, the former Radio 2 breakfast presenter, is of course no stranger to the box - from his eponymous chatshow to the mighty Blankety Blank and “why oh why” BBC feedback show Points of View.
His new role will be a little different, as the host of a funny home video programme. All those years of presenting Auntie’s Bloomers on BBC1 have not gone to waste.
And it’s not the first time Wogan has tried out his acting chops, taking a guest role on BBC3’s Being Human.
Other stars reaching for the Moone in the new series of the Sky1 show guest roles for the third series include Sharon Horgan who hit screens this week in Channel 4’s Catastrophe and John Sessions.
Horgan will play Sharon Morgan, a high powered, yoga-loving entrepreneur while Sessions will rock up as Dr Steven Gnot, a local conspiracy theorist and radio presenter of “Believe It Or Not with Dr Steven Gnot”. Let’s hope Wogan was around to give him a few tips.
