A minute's silence will be observed in tribute to Terry Venables when England host Brazil in a friendly on March 23 next year.
The FA is also understood to be planning further tributes ahead of that match to mark the death of Venables, who led England to the Euro 96 semi-finals.
Venables, who died aged 80 over the weekend, played twice for England in 1964, before managing the national team between 1994 and 1996 and then returning as Steve McClaren’s assistant from 2006 to 2007.
Venables also managed the likes of Barcelona, Tottenham and Crystal Palace at club level.
It remains unclear whether the Wembley arch will be lit up ahead of the match on March 23 to commemorate Venables’s life. The arch was illuminated in remembrance of Sir Bobby Charlton earlier this month, but the FA board has since voted to limit such instances.
Tributes poured in for Venables on Sunday, with Gary Lineker calling him the “most innovative” manager he played under, while England manager Gareth Southgate hailed his “wonderful manner”.
An FA spokesperson said: “We are all deeply saddened by the passing of former England manager Terry Venables, a true football icon.
“As one of the sport’s most charismatic figures, he leaves behind a legacy that captured the imagination of many and enhanced the global reputation of the English game.
“Today our game mourns the loss of not only a great character but an innovative, forward-thinking manager who was an inspiration to a generation of English players and coaches.”
