Terry McLaurin names Marvin Harrison as his sports hero

The Washington Redskins have high expectations for rookie wideout Terry McLaurin in 2019 and beyond.

McLaurin has high expectations for himself, too.

Given some of the guys McLaurin looked up to, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise — especially once Marvin Harrison’s name enters the fray, as the Ohio State product told ESPN when asked about his sports hero.

Via ESPN:

“Marvin Harrison. I really looked up to him being from Indianapolis just because of the way he went about his business at the receiver position. He wasn’t flashy but got his job done. … There’s only a couple people I’ve been starstruck to meet and he was one of them. I just started off reciting all his plays that I remember in my head, and he was like, ‘Dang, you remember more than I do.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I watched everything you did.'”

Harrison played in the NFL from 1996-2008, gaining 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns, winning a Super Bowl and going to eight Pro Bowls. He led the NFL in receiving twice.

McLaurin’s beginnings might come a bit humbler, as he could be refined to a big role on special teams as a rookie.

Either way, the fact McLaurin has such an interesting sports hero in the first place says quite a bit about him and what Redskins fans will see him attempt to do on the field as his career gets underway.
