Terry McLaurin is thrilled with his growth as a rookie

Terry McLaurin has been one of the biggest surprises for the Washington Redskins this season.

Normally that wouldn’t be saying much given the trajectory of the season, but McLaurin has been an especially encouraging case given his outbreak.

Here’s McLaurin on his growth as a player, per Redskins.com’s Jacob Steinberg:

“It’s humbling because I really feel like I’ve been able to contribute to our team. That’s what I set out to do when I first got drafted here, and I just want to continue to build on that, being a guy that can take the top off the defense, to be the person that changes the momentum of the game.”

McLaurin, of course, is being humble about it. He’s a breakout star and No. 1 wideout who after falling for a few rounds has stormed onto the scene and leads the Redskins in receiving with 497 yards and five touchdowns.

His breakout sure makes the coaches who stashed him for the preseason look good. And building on that, he’s shored up what had previously been a big problem for the Redskins.

Now…the Redskins just have to build well around McLaurin by addressing the bevy of other issues.
