Silver sand and Jamaican good vibes this isn't; Lynn depicts her hometown as a city ravaged by drugs, terrorised by gangsters, and sold out by corrupt politicians. It's gruelling stuff but her urgent ragga flow and the futuristic beats supplied by Swiss-Canadian collaborator Phred and associates provide a brilliantly infectious counterpoint to the grim lyrics. The title track moves to the jittery rhythms of an addict seeking his next fix, jabs of synth punctuate 'Screaming In The Night.' This record marks the emergence of a compelling urban voice; a debut to file alongside those of MIA and Dizzee Rascal.
