Terry Crews praised by co-star Andy Samberg following sexual assault testimony: 'I'm proud to know him'

Andy Samberg has heaped praise upon Terry Crews who recently accused a high-profile talent agent of sexual assault.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor celebrated his co-star as a “miracle” for nobly speaking out against Adam Venit whom he alleges assaulted him last year. While encouraged by his fans, the actor has seemingly faced consequences in the aftermath of his accusal having been mocked by 50 Cent. He even claims he was fired from forthcoming sequel The Expendables 4 for coming forward.

“We have a cast text chain and we were all texting him how incredible it was,” Samberg told Associated Press. “He’s a miracle. Terry’s the best guy. I am proud to know him.”

Venit has denied all of Crews' allegations with the case thrown out due to the expiry of its statute of limitations.

In the wake of his allegations,  Crews - a proud feminist and supporter of the #MeToo movement - explained why he did not fight back against the man he accused of sexually assaulting him.

“The assault lasted only minutes, but what he was effectively telling me while he held my genitals in his hand, was that he held the power,” he said in his opening statement during an emotional testimony in favour of proposed legislation known as the Sexual Assault Survivors Bill of Rights.

Responding to 50 Cent's now-deleted Instagram post mocking the actor for being a survivor of sexual assault, the actor simply said: “I prove that size doesn't matter when it comes to sexual assault.”

Crews stars in Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Terry Jeffords, alongside Samberg who stars as Jake Peralta. The beloved sitcom, which was cancelled by FOX before being swiftly picked up by NBC following fan outrage, will return for a shortened sixth season next year.
