Terry Butcher lands big money move to Chinese Super League as former Rangers star heads east

Terry Butcher has landed a big-money move to the Chinese Super League.

The former Rangers and England captain has joined Guangzhou R&F as a defensive coach.

The 60-year-old has agreed to go out to the Far-east to assist Serbian boss Dragan Stojkovic.

The ex-Motherwell and Inverness boss has agreed an initial contract for the rest of the year.

Guangzhou R&F, who are currently ninth in the Super League and are looking to push for a top five finish, have former Tottenham Hotspur star Mousa Dembele as their star player.

Butcher took up the post as Philippines last year but quit without taking a match after a problem over his contract.

The Englishman, who has also had spells at Inverness and Hibs, has been out of club football since he left Newport County back in 2015.
