Terror suspect's final words to taxi driver before bomb blast

The suspected terrorist who blew himself up outside Liverpool Women's Hospital reportedly spoke only two words to the taxi driver before the blast.

Emad Al Swealmeen, 32, died when the taxi exploded outside the Crown Street Hospital at 10.59am on Remembrance Sunday.

The driver of the taxi, David Perry, was interviewed for 90 minutes by counter-terrorism officers investigating the bomb blast about what happened in the moments before the device was activated.

The interview took place yesterday at his terraced home in north Liverpool, where he lives with wife Rachel.

Tributes paid after man who died in flat fire is named locally

Tributes have been paid to a man who died after a fire broke out at Quarry Green Heights, in Kirkby.

Emergency services were called to the scene, in the early hours of Tuesday, November 16, at around 1am after a blaze was reported in the high-rise building.

A police spokesperson confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

His next of kin have been informed by Merseyside police.

Police cordon off Boaler Street at the junction of Sutcliffe Street (Liverpool ECHO)

Police have sealed off Boaler Street, at the junction of Sutcliffe street, in Kensington.

The area was previously sealed off by police after counter-terror police arrested three suspects there in connection with the Liverpool Women's Hospital terror attack.

Officers previously raided properties in Sutcliffe Street, Kensington and Rutland Avenue, near Sefton Park, and arrested four men on suspicion of terror offences.

Both Merseyside Police and Counter Terrorism Police have been approached for comment.
