Counter-terror police are investigating whether Isis sleepers have been “reactivated” to launch attacks across Europe.
It follows a second terror arrest in Spain two weeks after Britain’s most-wanted Isis fugitive was seized following five years on
the run.
In the latest development, an unnamed Moroccan man was arrested in Barcelona, suspected of planning a “lone-wolf” attack this weekend.
Described as a “real threat to security”, he was held in an operation involving the FBI.
Spanish officers said he planned to carry out a terror act involving knives or a vehicle as a weapon.
Ex-British rapper Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary was arrested last month at a hideaway in Almeria, Spain, after sneaking into the country from Algeria.
He was with two other suspects who are being held outside Madrid in a tough prison called Soto del Real.
Egyptian-born Abdel Bary – who was brought up in London – is being held in solitary confinement.
The FBI’s involvement possibly links the arrests as agents are probing the murder of American and British hostages in Syria.
Abdel Bary – once pictured with a severed head in Syria – was linked to British Isis executioner Mohammed Emwazi – AKA Jihadi John, who is now dead.
Yesterday, Spain’s Civil Guard, referring to Isis as Daesh, said: “The arrested man’s radicalisation and affinity for Daesh dates back at least four years.
“He was seen moving around Barcelona and appearing to search for possible objectives.”
