Terror on Coronation Street with fears Pat Phelan has returned from the dead

Eileen Grimshaw faces a new nightmare after returning from Thailand on Coronation Street.

She was left fearing that her own son was dead, only to find out that it was all a ruse to help Todd escape from a gangster.

And now, as Todd hides out from the locals Mary Taylor is convinced that Eileen's serial killer late husband Pat Phelan has come back from beyond the grave.

Next week on Corrie, convinced the noises coming from the attic are the ghost of killer Pat, meddling Mary gets vicar Billy Mayhew to perform an exorcism.

When Todd suddenly appears at the top of the stairs, Mary and Billy are stunned.

A furious Billy berates his ex. who went missing three years ago, for abandoning their foster daughter Summer and letting her think he was dead.

Todd then seizes the opportunity to cause trouble between Billy and his new love Paul Foreman, but Billy assures Paul that he loves him with all his heart.

Many fans may be disappointed that Phelan isn't back on the street.

Actor Connor McIntyre won Villain of the Year at the British Soap Awards 2018 for his chilling portrayal of the murderous builder.

After a terrifying four year reign over the cobbles he went out with a dramatic ending in 2018 when he was stabbed through the chest by his nemesis Anna Windass during a horror siege at the bistro.

Viewers saw him being zipped into a body bag, but there have since been calls for his return by fans missing his menacing character.

He had already led everyone to think he was dead for weeks after surviving a fall off a harbour side and hiding out in a B&B following a showdown with Eileen when she found out he was a murderer.

He tormented poor Anna and blackmailed her into sleeping with him and in 2016 he developed an appetite for killing his neighbours when he stood over Michael Rodwell, played by Les Dennis, and watched him die as he suffered a heart attack.

For months he held Andy Carver hostage and forced him to shoot his old friend Vinny Ashford before killing Andy.

Then he shot mechanic Luke Britton and left him to die in a fireball.
