Terror in Leeds as police cordon off two Harehills streets with residents left scared for their safety

Police have cordoned off two streets in Leeds today as nearby residents are left terrified.

West Yorkshire Police set up a cordon on Pasture Road and Cross Pasture Road in Harehills this afternoon, April 15, at the border with Chapeltown, where investigation of the scene was ongoing.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police told a LeedsLive reporter the cordon was due to a 'fire'. An official statement is yet to be released.

The cordon extended all along the top of Pasture Road where it meets Spencer Place and Hares Terrace, as well as both sides of Cross Pasture Road.

A resident who lives on one of the roads adjacent to the cordon said: "I've just got home from work and it's really not nice to see this - it's really scary.

"I have a family here and this is a family area. We're making a hard living and we don't need this. But lately it feels like there's always something bad happening around here.

Residents on the part of Pasture Road inside the cordon were being asked to use their back doors if they wanted to leave their homes so they did not cross the scene.

There was at least five police vehicles at the scene and several officers. Investigation work was underway on Cross Pasture Road.
