Terror for woman who found intruder in her home at 4.30am

A terrified homeowner woke with a scream after assuming a noise in her house was her partner - only to realise he was sleeping beside her.

PAISLEY DAILY EXPRESS: Live news as it happens

The 40-year-old woman was asleep when she heard movement in her Netherhill Road home in Paisley at around 4.30am on Sunday.

She first thought it was her other half downstairs, but let out a scream when she saw him fast asleep in bed beside her.

She quickly went to investigate, but the intruder had disappeared after being disturbed.

Police are now probing the break-in and appealing for members of the public to come forward with information.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “This was a frightening incident for the homeowner and we are very keen to trace the individual responsible for breaking into her home.

“If you saw or heard anyone acting suspiciously in the area, then we would like to hear from you.

“We would also like to remind homeowners to make sure all doors and windows are locked, even when the home is occupied.”

Express readers with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
