Terror case: Adverse entry against 11 cops

LUCKNOW: Nearly a year after a terror suspect, Yusuf Khan, was arrested by the special cell of the Delhi police, Balrampur police chief has sent an adverse report against 11 cops, including an inspector of local intelligence unit, for failing to inform about the activities of the suspect to the IG of Devipatan range for further action.

Yusuf Khan was arrested from New Delhi on August 22 last year for allegedly planning to execute ‘fidayeen’ strikes. Cops had also recovered suicide vests and 15kg explosives from his residence in Besahi village in Balrampur district.

SP, Balrampur, Hemant Kutiyal said the IG of Devipatan range would initiate action against the cops.

“Instructions have been issued to in charge of all police stations to maintain vigil and report every suspicious activity,” the SP said. Last year, soon after special cell of the Delhi police had raided premises of Yusuf Khan, the then inspector Anil Yadav, sub-inspector Shashibhushan Pandey, along with two beat constables and an officer of the LIU were suspended.
