Terror as Liffey Valley Shopping Centre hit with bomb threat while Gardai rush to scene

Excited early morning shoppers and staff at a Dublin Shopping Centre were left extremely worried after the complex was hit with a terrifying and mysterious bomb threat.

It is understood that the warning was phoned in by someone who told staff that they had left an explosive object inside the Shopping Centre before hanging up the phone.

The alarm was then raised by workers who contacted Gardai with officers arriving at the Complex just moments later.

Extensive searches were carried out to find the suspected and deadly device but Gardai did not discover anything suspicious during the operation.

A Garda spokeswoman confirmed that enquiries are ongoing into the threat to trace the caller behind the sick warning.

She said: "At approximately 7:30am, Gardaí responded to reports of a potential suspicious device in a shopping centre in the Clondalkin area, Dublin on 11 August.

She added:" A search of the area was conducted and no item was located.

"Enquiries are ongoing and no further information is available at this time."
