Territory to boost vaccine rollout

NT Health Minister Natasha Fyles says the territory is leading the nation in the vaccine rollout. (AAP)

The Northern Territory has opened up another 3100 COVID-19 vaccine appointments and will provide the jabs around the clock from early next month.

So far 88,841 Territorians have had their first dose, equal to almost 47 per cent of the eligible population.

The region has also administered more than 50,000 second doses, or to 26 per cent of those eligible.

Health Minister Natasha Fyles said the NT government was leading the nation in the vaccine rollout and now had an opportunity to further accelerate the program.

"We are working closely with the Commonwealth Government which is delivering 10,000 additional doses to the Northern Territory per week," she said.

."We were the first to collapse the tranches and open the vaccine up to the entire eligible population and we were the first to make the vaccine available to people over the age of 16."
