Terrifying moment thugs rob busy Iceland supermarket in Coolock and escape with cash

This is the scary moment a group of thugs robbed a popular north Dublin supermarket and escaped with a large amount of cash.

The Iceland store in Coolock was open to the public when the terrifying incident took place at around 5pm this evening.

And the car used in the robbery was later found burnt out in the nearby Ferrycarrig housing estate.

The group can be seen rushing into the car after taking the sum of cash from inside the store, and speeding out of the premises in the Greencastle Retail Park.

Gardai have confirmed that no arrests have yet been made in the incident.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating a robbery that took place at a retail premises in Greencastle Retail Park, Coolock, this afternoon, Thursday 9 July 2020 at approximately 5pm.

"A sum of cash was taken during the incident. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."

There have been no reports of any injuries to staff or customers that may have been in the store at the time.

An Iceland Ireland spokeswoman told Dublin Live:“We confirm that there was a robbery at our Coolock store at 5pm, Thursday, 9th July.

"Thankfully no colleagues or customers were injured and the assailants efforts were thwarted by the new security features that we have put in place recently across our 27 stores nationwide. The Gardaí are investigating the matter."
