'Terrifying' moment shop staff threatened with 'meat cleaver' in robbery

Police have released CCTV footage of the moment men robbed a convenience shop in St George.

Two men entered the Two Mile Hill Road store at 6.11am on December 2. One threatened staff with what appeared to be a meat cleaver.

They demanded two women employed by the shop opened the tills before making off with cash.

The pair fled the scene in the direction of Bell Hill Road.

Investigator Emily Barber said: “This was a terrifying incident for the staff working in the store.

"Thankfully, nobody was injured but understandably staff were left shaken by what happened.

"We are hoping that by releasing this CCTV footage people will remember seeing these men in the area and be able to help us with our ongoing investigation.”

The man armed with the weapon was described as 5ft 6-7ins tall and stocky. He was wearing a dark blue boiler suit, grey gloves, black balaclava/snood and a black beanie hat.

The second person was described as 5ft 10ins tall and thin. He was wearing grey jogging trousers, a dark waterproof jacket, black balaclava/snood/scarf and black gloves with a white strip across the top.

He also had a black rucksack, decorated with a white patch and dark green lettering.
