Chilling footage shows a man abducting a six-year-old girl outside an apartment block moments before her dad rescues her.
The clip shows a man dressed in a white shirt and black trousers approaching two girls who are playing in the courtyard.
The 63-year-old can be seen bending down and touching one of the girls by the hair. He then pretends to check her braids.
The little girl seems confused as she reportedly sees the man for the first time and does not know what is going on.
Some seconds later, the man grabs the girl's kick scooter, before leading her down the path.
He is then confronted by the girl's father, who claims to have seen the stranger's actions.
The father then appears to punch the kidnapper in the face before handing him over to the police.
The shocking incident was filmed on a CCTV camera in the city of Uralsk, Kazakhstan, on Sunday.
The girl's terrified mum Ainura told local media: ''Everything happened in front of my husband and me. An old man walked up to our daughter and started touching her hair.
''The next moment he led our girl down the path while she was on her scooter.
''My husband stopped him."
The girl's father Berikzhan added: ''The man said 'he was taking the child for a walk to show her some new swings'.
''He was drunk and did not even get that I was her father.
''I pushed him away from my daughter.''
Police launched a criminal case for attempted kidnapping against the individual.
A spokesperson said: ''The 63-year-old suspect tried to take a girl away from her courtyard in an unknown direction.
''He was stopped by the girl's father, who reported his actions to the police.
''The man was detained and is being interrogated at the moment.''
The detained man was drunk at the moment of the incident, police confirmed.
It has not been reported if he filed a complaint with law enforcement against the girl's father for the use of force.
The family's neighbour Zhanar said: ''It all happened outside our apartment block. Thank God, the father was nearby and protected his child.''
