Terrifying moment lorry barrels towards rescue workers after motorway crash

This is terrifying moment a lorry appears out of thick fog and hurtles towards rescue workers after a motorway crash in the US.

The video was captured by local Texas news station KCBD, who were covering an earlier pile-up on Highway 84, near Amarillo.

In the footage, taken on Friday morning, the lorry suddenly appears through the thick fog and crashes down on its side as rescue workers ran for their lives.

Two people were injured by the lorry - one emergency services worker and one man who was trapped in a pick-up.

Both are expected to survive.

Photographer Caleb Holder, who captured the footage, told KCBD: “I couldn't remember if I was recording at the time or how the camera was framed. I just saw that trailer coming and knew I had to run away from it.

"Part of my job as a news photographer is to go out to breaking news and shoot video of whatever it is. That includes car crashes sometimes.

“I was looking in that direction. That’s where I was focused.

“That’s when we could hear more tyres screeching, and then just barely see headlights coming in through the fog.

“As I was running away, I remember looking back and seeing the trooper also running, and then I could see that he had fallen down and that the trailer was coming really close to him.

“I’ve never seen anything like that in person."
