Terrifying infinity bridge suspended 2,000 feet above a valley - and it's just up the M6

Brave adventurers are being invited to take on a high-wire suspended over 2,000 feet above the ground.

The Infinity Bridge is a hair-raising narrow wire bridge that spans across linking two mountainous peaks in the Lake District is certainly not for the faint hearted.

Named so because you often cannot see the other end - it's strung across a breathtaking gorge, high up on the mountainsides at around double the height of The Shard in London.

The thin cable walkway - which thrillseekers must traverse their way along to reach the opposite cliff face - gives the impression of walking through the sky.

Just a web of steel wires, rungs and ladders make up the bridge structure, offering unparallelled views over the stunning fells of Cumbria -or down at the winding pass, thousands of feet below.

Located at the site of England's last working slate mine, the hair-raising attraction spans across the Honister Pass - and has even been dubbed the Lake District's version of the Burma Bridge.

It stretches 350ft between the crags on Fleetwith Pike, making it the longest high-wire bridge of its type in Britain.

All visitors are supplied with safety equipment including a helmet and harness, and are beifed before heading out onto the bridge with a guide.

No previous experience is necessary to take part in this experience, with the only requirements being a sense of adventure and a basic level of fitness.

The experience lasts around an hour - but those who really want to make a day and night of it can also book to camp literally hanging directly beneath the Infinity Bridge, high above the ground.

Probably one of the most extreme camping experiences in the UK adventurers can stay in a tent hung directly from the high-wire overnight - and enjoy a luxury breakfast in the morning.

A trip across the Honister Infinity Bridge costs £25 per person.  You can find out more and book here.

Guests are advised that due to the ongoing pandemic, masks must be worn at all times during the adventure, with a track and trace system also in place for visitors to the site.
