Frightening footage has been released by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) showing a 'vacuum bomb' being launched.
The MoD shows a TOS-1A rocket launcher as the weapon is being used by Russia forces during attacks.
Russia confirmed the use of thermobaric rockets - otherwise known as vacuum bombs -and is also 'likely' deploying private mercenaries, according to the MoD.
The MoD also said its Russian counterpart confirmed the use of these rockets which in turn has created 'incendiary and blast effects' during invasions, reports WalesOnline.
Posting the video on Twitter, the MoD stated that Russia used the weaponed in both Afghanistan and Chechnya.

Although they are not illegal, the use of thermobaric weapons is strictly regulated, according to the MoD.
It comes as the MoD said the Russian state “almost certainly maintains extensive links” with Russian private military companies (PMCs) and is “likely deploying” their mercenaries to Ukraine.
“Russian PMCs have been accused of committing human rights abuses in several countries, such as Syria, Libya and the Central African Republic, whilst operating on behalf of the Russian state,” the MoD said.
