Terrifying footage shows moment lorry deliberately smashes into East Kilbride home twice

This is the shocking moment an HGV driver deliberately rams a house with his truck – TWICE.

Lanarkshire Live told earlier today how emergency services raced to a house in the town’s Nerston area on Monday night following reports of an incident.

Police Scotland confirmed with us they are investigating after a lorry “was deliberately driven into a house” in Lancaster Crescent around 11pm last night.

Now new footage, sent to Lanarkshire Live by the EK Discuss Facebook forum, shows the moment of madness in which the driver rams the house, pulls away and then reverses into it again.

The video shows the driver direct the huge lorry at the building before smashing into the house. He then drives forward, stops, takes aim again and rams into the house once more at high speeds.

Pictures of the abandoned Eddie Stobart lorry appear to show the damage to the rear of the lorry.

No arrests have been made and no one has yet been charged in connection with the incident.

Shocked neighbours earlier told us of an “almighty” crash and scenes “like a film,” with one saying it was “absolute mayhem” and that they were in “total disbelief”.

One neighbour told us: “It was mental, absolute mayhem.

“I have never seen anything like it before - police everywhere.

“The family, who I don’t really know to be honest, got out thankfully which is the main thing. It could have been far, far worse.

“It is a row of terraces and if a gas main had ruptured the whole lot could have gone bang.”

Police and the fire service have both confirmed they were in attendance, with cops saying an investigation was under way after a lorry “was deliberately driven into a house” in Lancaster Crescent.

No one was injured in the horrific incident.

Another eyewitness man, who was among the first to call emergency services, told us: “We heard an almighty noise and my oldest son said a truck had gone into one of the house’s opposite.

“I walked to the door and just out onto the path and the Eddie Stobart truck was coming out having already reversed into the house - to our horror, it reversed back and went in again.

“The lorry then drove off at speed and was out of here as quick as they could. I called the police and one of my neighbours did too.

“Before you knew it there were ambulances, fire and police everywhere, there was hundreds of folk out it was like something out of a film. It didn’t seem real.

“Thankfully the family got out safe.”
