Terrifying flight simulator allows people to experience what it's like to be in a plane crash

A new super-realistic attraction that allows audience members to experience a plane crash is opening next month.

Dubbed FLIGHT, it's a theatre performance combined with a high-tech simulator and organisers warn it is "not recommended for people of a nervous disposition."

The internationally renowned touring experience takes place in a pitch black 40ft shipping container that has been kitted out to be an exact replica of a Boeing 707.

Once on board, passengers are plunged into complete darkness while binaural 360 degree sound and sensory effects to put each audience member at the centre of intense and unnerving evolving narratives.

The theatrical project uses advanced sound sensation, realistic movement and fast-paced performances to fully immerse passengers in the true-to-life and exhilarating 30 minute experience.

The simulation has been designed by Darkfield, a firm that collaborates technology and theatre to create fully immersive experiences.

And according to their website, each experience has one of two outcomes.

Their flagship FLIGHT container "explores the Many-Worlds Interpretation of quantum mechanics" by taking audience "through two worlds, two realities and two possible outcomes to their journey."

“There are many worlds in which this plane lands safely,” they added. “Neither Heaven nor Hell is assured. We are not responsible for your final destination.”

The event has already had three sell-out runs in Edinburgh with over 100,000 audience members, including thrill seekers in Australia and Mexico and at Latitude Festival in 2019.

FLIGHT will be at the Lakeside Arts Centre in Nottingham between February 15 - 23  as part of the Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity.

Tickets are £8 and you can book online.
