Terrifying armed robbery at Gorgie Farm as thug swipes cash from Edinburgh charity

A man has been arrested after a 'heartless' weapon-wielding yob threatened a member of staff and swiped cash from an Edinburgh charity-run farm.

The thug brandished the weapon at the terrified victim before swiping a three-figure sum at Gorgie Farm on July 10.

The urban farm, in the south-west of the city, is operated by education and social care charity, LOVE - who provided free breakfasts to children across Edinburgh during lockdown.

Police confirmed that a 52-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Officers thanked the public for their help with the probe into the vicious attack.

He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

A spokesperson from Edinburgh Police Division said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 52 year old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident which saw a man threatened with a weapon and a three figure sum of cash stolen.

"He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

"We would like to thank the public for their assistance following our appeal for information."
